Why blog when we can use social media? Personally, I don’t want my social media filled full of my opinions, thoughts and ideas. Half the time I am unsure why I even have a Facebook. I rarely post anything anyways. I suppose it’s my only source of information – since we all know Facebook has an outstanding reputation. I’m busy, I work, I go to school, I have a marriage to maintain, two (step) children… When do I have time to watch the news? Or see the weather forecast? I barely even have time for a bathroom break on most days.
I chose to blog rather than use social media. Why? Honestly, I’m partially intimidated by my “friends.” We are all guilty of kicking back with our popcorn as the Facebook boxing gloves go on. I don’t want to be the person in the ring. I value my opinion and the opinions of others… Except my wife may say that it’s my way or the highway – which is true too. We all have those friends who relentlessly post the same thing over and over and over and over. It’s exhausting. Then our coworkers see our opinions and potentially judge you for the rest of your life. Yeahhh…. No. I’ll stick to this for now.
As far as blogging goes, I have contemplated on writing over the last 10 years. Writing is something I have always enjoyed. It has been an escape for me. Somewhere out there I have a little notebook of writings – Some short stories, some poems, thoughts, crazy ideas, opinions. It’s what helped me survive those four years of high school. Now as I drown in the ocean of life, blogging will be the life vest I need.
In preparation for future blogs, I have a few topics in mind. I’d love to tell you…. but why spoil the surprise?
